Korean Academy of Taekwondo Students have Great Showing at Colorado State Taekwondo Championship
Students from KAT and the affiliated Metro State College of Denver Taekwondo programs brought home 34 medals at the Colorado State Taekwondo Championships. KAT showed inspiring enthusiasm while competing in the 2005 Colorado State Taekwondo tournament, winning a total of 34 medals. Out of nearly 25 schools who competed, only one school won more total medals. Though it was the first tournament for many of the KAT players- each person who competed for KAT won a medal in every event they competed in. Of special note were performances by Peter and Theresa Nguyen, who both earned a spot on the official Colorado State Taekwondo team by placing first in their divisions. Even though they are both junior athletes, they both won gold in the adult divisions to make it on the team. Peter took the adult male flyweight division and Therese took the adult female flyweight division. lthough the primary purpose of Taekwondo training is to improve the students’ discipline and make them better people, it is always nice to have such a strong showing at a competition.
